Slip and Fall
"Slip and fall" is a generic term for an injury that happens when a person slips, trips, or falls as a result of a dangerous condition on another person's property.
Property owners are responsible for dangerous conditions on their property if they created them, knew about them, or should have known about them. This is called "premises liability." Examples of slip and fall cases include improperly lit stairways, lack of proper railings on the stairs, food or liquid that was not properly cleaned up, and improperly constructed sidewalks. It may also include falls as a result of water, ice or snow, abrupt changes in flooring, or even a hidden hazard such as a gap or a difficult to see hole in the ground.
